Best Time to Post on Instagram

Choose where most of your followers live. You'll see good starting times to post, in their time and converted to yours. This matters most when your audience is in a different country, for example an Indian creator with followers in the US or UK.

These are starting points to test, not guarantees. For times based on an account's real results, analyse it free.

Why these times

People check Instagram in predictable moments: before work, at lunch and in the evening, with later and slower mornings at the weekend. Posting just before those moments gives a post the best chance of early likes and comments, which help it reach more people. Reels tend to do well slightly later in the evening, when people have time to watch.

These slots are common starting points, not universal answers. A gym account, a student audience and a parenting page will all have different peaks. That is why the best approach is to start here and then check your own results.

Posting to an audience in another country

This is where most people go wrong. If you live in India but most of your followers are in the US, posting at 7 pm IST means your post lands at around 9:30 am on the US East Coast, and in the middle of the night on the West Coast. Use the "Your time" column above to schedule posts for when your followers are awake, not when you are.

Best time to post in India, the UK and the US

India: evenings from about 7 pm to 10 pm IST are usually strongest, with a smaller lunchtime peak. United Kingdom: early morning commutes, lunch and evenings from about 7 pm work well. United States: with several time zones, many accounts aim for times that work on both coasts, such as late morning to early afternoon Eastern, which is early morning to late morning Pacific.

Find your own best time

FAQ

For most audiences, weekday lunchtimes and evenings from about 7 pm to 9 pm in the audience's own time zone are good starting points. Test them against your own results.

What is the best time to post reels?

Reels often do best in the evening, roughly 7 pm to 10 pm in your audience's time zone, when people have time to watch videos.

Does posting time still matter on Instagram?

Less than content quality, but early engagement still helps a post reach more people, so posting when your audience is active is worth it.

What if my followers are spread across countries?

Post when your largest group is active, or alternate times and compare results. Times that overlap, such as late morning US Eastern, can cover more than one region.
